Frequently Asked Questions

How do I transfer my existing website to Welltech Hosting?

It's really simple! Here's the information we need:

  • Your current FTP URL, username and password
  • Your current email configuration (what emails, which are forwarded where, etc.)
  • Your database information, if you have one
  • Who manages your domain name, since it'll need to begin pointing to our hosting server

And that's about it! The whole process can be easily done in a day.

What's your billing cycle like? When do I pay or get billed?

All our hosting fees are paid annually in advance. Our billing cycle runs from March 1 - February 28/9. If you sign up in the middle of the year, you'll initially be billed for a partial year, and then the full amount will be due by the next March 1.

We send email invoices at the beginning of February each year, and payment is due by March 1.

You can pay by check or online through your account page.

I got this email error message - "There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator. The IP you're using to send mail is not authorized."

You're likely using a Windows-based mail program like Outlook, that has several accounts configured, including the one for your Welltech Hosting website account. One of those other email accounts is identified using the same email address as your website account, but using a different Outgoing Server. Normally not a problem, but some recipients (like Gmail) who are strong on security want the domain of the email address to match the IP of the Outgoing Server.

For example, say you originally had an Outlook account with Email = fred@neo.rr.com and Outgoing Server = mail.roadrunner.com. Then you bought a domain and hosting at Welltech Hosting (good move!) and created a new Outlook account with Email = fred@mydomain.com and Outgoing Server = mail.mydomain.com. So far, so good. But you decide that you may want to change ISPs sometime and don't want to bother changing your email address all the time, so you just change the first account Email to fred@mydomain.com too.

Now there's a potential problem. Gmail will reject an email from the first account, since the email's domain (mydomain.com) doesn't match the mail server's domain (neo.rr.com).

Solution: For all accounts where you use fred@mydomain.com as the Email, change the Outgoing Server to mail.mydomain.com. Problem solved.
